Sam Alvey is an American mixed martial artist who has competed primarily in the UFC’s middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. Born on May 6, 1986, in Waterloo, Iowa, Alvey is instantly recognizable for his trademark perpetual smile, which he maintains even during intense fights, earning him the nickname “Smilin’ Sam.”
Alvey made his UFC debut in 2014 after competing in various regional promotions including Bellator and Strikeforce. Throughout his career, he became known for his knockout power, durable chin, and entertaining fighting style.
