Biography:
Arnel Pineda is a Filipino rock singer best known as the lead vocalist of the legendary American rock band Journey.
Pineda grew up in Manila and faced serious hardships at a young age, even experiencing homelessness as a teenager. Despite that, he kept singing performing in local bands and competitions across the Philippines and Asia.
In the 1980s and 1990s, he fronted bands like Ijos and The Zoo, building a strong reputation for his powerful voice and wide vocal range.
In 2007, Journey guitarist Neal Schon discovered Arnel through YouTube videos of him covering Journey songs. Impressed by how closely his voice matched original singer Steve Perry, the band invited him to audition.
He officially joined Journey in 2007 a true internet-era Cinderella story.
Arnel made his debut on Journey’s 2008 album Revelation, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. He has since toured worldwide with the band, performing classic hits like:
