Botox is a neuromodulator made from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, Botox injections are the most popular cosmetic procedures nationwide.
This injectable was the first FDA-approved botulinum type A neuromodulator, gaining approval for cosmetic use in 2002. Aside from its use in cosmetic procedures, it has also helped many people with symptoms like chronic migraines, eye twitching, excessive sweating, and more.
Botox works by blocking certain nerves and paralyzing the targeted muscles, not allowing them to contract. This makes wrinkles relax and soften. The paralysis of the muscles is temporary, lasting anywhere from three to six months.
Our Botox injections in Scottsdale can treat forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. Neuromodulators like Botox work best against dynamic wrinkles, which are wrinkles that movements like smiles and frowns cause. Botox injections temporarily prevent the muscles from performing these movements.
A combination of Botox and fillers can also help treat static wrinkles, which are deeper wrinkles that form when skin becomes less elastic with age.
To maintain the aesthetic appeal you desire and to train the muscles to be weaker, regular reinjections are necessary. We deliver Botox injections in units and will work with you to determine the number of units most suitable for your needs.
Dysport vs. Botox: Differences Between Dysport and Botox
What to Expect from Your Scottsdale Botox or Dysport Treatment
Whether you want wrinkle reduction treatments or a Botox lip flip in Scottsdale or Nashville, knowing what to expect from the treatment is essential.
When you visit our clinic, we will look at your medical history and assess the current problem areas you want to tackle. Together, we will decide on the best treatment options to help you achieve those results. Depending on the areas we want to target, the treatment may involve both Botox and Dysport injections.
We will also give you a list of pre injection best practices. For example, we’ll ask you to avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 12 hours before treatment. You shouldn’t have a chemical peel or a facial in the days leading up to the injections.
If you take medications or herbal supplements or if you have allergies, let us know. We may recommend you not take particular supplements or medications a few days before treatment. You should also avoid some over-the-counter remedies, like aspirin and ibuprofen, at least four days before Botox or Dysport injections.
Although most people can resume regular activities right after the injections, you may want to give yourself some self-care time after your first injection. Because results may take some time to appear, plan the injections at least one to two weeks before any big events.
Botox and Dysport sessions take less than 30 minutes for most people. Many of our patients stop by on their lunch breaks. Don’t be shy about asking questions or expressing concerns before the procedure.
When you visit us for Dysport or Botox treatment in Scottsdale, we will begin by marking off the injection sites. We will then use a topical numbing agent on your skin and begin the injections. Our providers will help you feel comfortable during your session.
Dysport injections may be deeper than Botox injections. The deeper shots help cover a wider area.
After the injections, do not rub or massage the area to avoid spreading the neuromodulator to other parts of your face. You will want to avoid alcohol for at least two days and not perform strenuous activities for at least four hours after the injection.
We will also recommend that you stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours and ask you not to lay down for a few hours after the procedure.
You should start seeing results within the next few days. Remember that with Botox, the full effects may take anywhere from a week to a month to appear. Together, we will decide how often to schedule injections to allow you to maintain the results. In this discussion, we can go over ongoing Botox specials and costs based on if you decide to receive a treatment regimen.
A PDO thread lift may be combined with other procedures, depending on the goals that you are seeking to achieve. Commonly added-on procedures include dermal fillers and microneedling. These options allow for an enhanced volume of the face and skin resurfacing to correct issues related to lost collagen, increased lines, and elasticity.
